Web design for martial arts schools

Hand-built websites for UK martial arts schools. Free trial signups, clear timetables, lineage and safeguarding all in one calm site.

01 / Why martial arts sites need their own playbook

A martial arts site is two sales pitches sharing one venue

Parents enrolling a seven-year-old want safeguarding, discipline and confidence. Adult beginners want fitness, self-defence and a clear path to a belt. The same gym serves both, but the same homepage cannot. Most martial arts websites try and end up speaking to nobody in particular, with a stock photo of a black belt and a 'contact us' button.

We build martial arts sites that lead with the right audience for the goals you have, structure trials and memberships for the way real students join, and treat lineage and safeguarding as the trust signals they actually are. Hosting, ongoing updates and competition news refreshes are all part of one monthly plan.

02 / What you get

Built for the way parents and adult students actually decide

Trial offers, lineage, safeguarding and timetables, working together to fill the mat.

Free intro week or beginner trial

A 'try us free for a week' or 'first class free' offer front and centre with a one-screen signup. Martial arts intake almost entirely runs through trial offers; we make it the path of least resistance.

Class timetable by age and style

Tiny tigers, juniors, teens, adults, women's only and competition squad. Each with the right day, time, venue and instructor. The timetable is the page parents and adult beginners check first.

Style and lineage credibility

BJJ belts and lineage, karate dan grade, Muay Thai trainer credentials, governing body affiliations (BJJAGB, EKF, BKKA). Adult learners look for these specifically before signing up.

Kids vs adults split

Separate sections written for parents (safeguarding, discipline, confidence) and adult learners (fitness, self-defence, competition). Same school, two completely different sales pitches.

Membership tiers and grading fees

Honest membership pricing (per month, family discounts, freezing options) and the cost of belt grading or competition entries. Adults compare gyms on price and quietly punish vagueness.

Safeguarding and DBS

Enhanced DBS for instructors working with under-18s, your safeguarding lead, and a child-safe policy linked from the footer. Non-negotiable for parents enrolling kids.

03 / How it works

From first call to live site

01

Style and audience

We map your art (BJJ, karate, Muay Thai, judo, MMA, kickboxing), your class mix and your typical member profile. Kids-led schools need a different homepage to adults-led schools.

02

Trial offer and timetable

We design the free trial signup, the timetable by age and style, and decide which audience leads on the homepage based on where you want to grow.

03

Build and book

We build the site, wire up the trial signup and direct debit signup if you use GoCardless or Stripe, and embed any video clips of training or competition.

04

Live and updated

We go live and update timetables, gradings, competition results and member news on request. The site moves with the gym.

FAQ

Common questions

Should the homepage lead with kids or adults?

Whichever you want to grow most. Kids-heavy schools usually do better with a parent-facing homepage that leads with safeguarding and confidence. Adults-led schools (BJJ gyms in particular) usually do better with a peer-facing homepage that leads with the trial offer and the lineage.

Can the site take direct debit signups?

Yes. We connect GoCardless or Stripe for monthly memberships, with the option to freeze, cancel or upgrade. Most gyms move from cash and bank transfers to direct debit within the first three months and never look back.

How do you handle BJJ belt lineage?

We add a clear lineage section to the About page (your professor, their professor, the academy) because BJJ practitioners check this before joining a new gym. It is one of the most-clicked elements on a BJJ site.

Can the timetable show different age groups clearly?

Yes. We design a timetable that filters by age and style, so parents see the kids classes and adults see the adult classes. Same data, two different views.

What about competition results?

We add a simple news feed for grading days, competition wins and seminar visits. Quietly powerful for credibility because it shows a school that is alive, not just a venue.

Will the site work for multiple venues?

Yes. Each venue gets its own page with address, parking, mat space, instructor and class list. Schools running several venues benefit hugely because students choose by location first.
