Web design for graphic designers
Hand-built websites for UK graphic designers and studios. Real case studies, sharp positioning and a brief intake that filters in the right work.
01 / Why designer sites need to be sharper
Designers tend to overthink the look and underwrite the words
A graphic designer's portfolio site is usually beautiful and almost useless to a buyer. Big spreads, lovely typography, and not a single line about what each project actually solved. Marketing directors and founders shortlist on the thinking, the process and the rough cost. If the site is silent on those, the work has to do impossible amounts of selling on its own.
We build designer sites that lead with sharp positioning, real case studies, and pricing that filters in the right briefs. Hosting, ongoing case study writing and quarterly polish are all part of one monthly plan.
02 / What you get
Built for the way design work actually gets bought
Process, proof and pricing all working together to bring better briefs in.
Case studies, not Behance dumps
Three or four properly written case studies with the brief, the constraints, the process and the result. Clients hire the thinking behind the work, not just the finished artwork.
Specialism-led service pages
Brand identity, packaging, editorial, illustration, web visuals. Each specialism has its own page so the right brief lands instead of every 'can you design my logo' enquiry.
Day rate or project pricing
An honest day rate or project starting figure on the services page. Filters out the budgets that will never work and validates the ones that will. Saves dozens of unqualified discovery calls a year.
Process page that closes the deal
A clear breakdown of how a project actually runs: discovery, sketches, rounds of revision, handover. Buyers love this page because it removes the mystery from creative work.
Brief intake form
A staged enquiry form that captures budget, timeline, deliverables and brand stage. The right brief lands in your inbox already qualified.
Quietly distinctive design
Your portfolio site has to look like a designer made it without imitating one of the big four. We build something specific to you, not a Squarespace template with your name swapped in.
03 / How it works
From first call to live site
Positioning call
A working call to sharpen what you do, who you do it for and what makes your studio different. The narrower the positioning, the more the rest of the site does for you.
Case study writing
We help you turn three or four projects into proper case studies with brief, constraints, process and result. Most designers have great work and weak case studies; we fix that.
Build and brief intake
We build the site to your art direction, wire up the brief intake form, and connect to your email tool for any newsletter or follow-up flows.
Live and iterating
We go live and add new case studies, services and process pages on request. The site grows with the studio.
FAQ
Common questions
Will the site look like every other designer's portfolio?
No. We do not use templates and we do not lean on the same five Squarespace tropes. Your art direction leads the build, we provide the engineering and the structure. Two designers will end up with two clearly different sites.
Why bother with case studies if my work speaks for itself?
Because the work shows what you can make, but the case study shows how you think. Buyers (especially marketing directors and founders) hire the thinking. A portfolio of pretty images without context loses to a smaller portfolio with proper case studies almost every time.
Should I publish a day rate?
Yes, in some form. A day rate or 'projects start at £X' figure filters out the freelancers-pretending-to-be-clients and the £200 logo enquiries. It also validates the budgets that match your work, who feel reassured rather than nervous.
Can the site handle illustration as well as graphic design?
Yes. We add a separate illustration section with its own gallery, its own pricing language and its own enquiry flow. Illustration is a different sale and the site reflects that.
Will the site be fast even with image-heavy case studies?
Yes. Images are served in modern formats at the right resolution, lazy-loaded below the fold, and the hosting is properly cached. Designer portfolios are notorious for being slow; we treat speed as part of the design.
Can I add a journal or notes section?
Yes. A simple journal section is great for SEO and credibility, especially for designers who want to be seen as thoughtful. We build it so you can email us posts and we publish them, no CMS to learn.
